2008
Over the two years after the Gitter album, JA wrote another two dozen songs. These were all to go on the Sonic Paint album, but squeezing that many songs onto a single album had its problems. The solution was to collate the softer and more lyric oriented songs onto a second but related album called Sonic Poetry. The covers of these paired albums feature the wing of a monarch butterfly who hatched within the JA household family room. You'll see it's soon-to-hatch cocoon on the CD labels. It was a tender family moment as our butterfly took off toward the south first flying high into the sky. Would a bird quickly gobble it up? Not likely. Monarch catepillars feed on milkweed, which make them, by design, taste horrible. Ah, better living through chemistry. The release of dual albums demanded a CD release party, which transpired on May 24, 2008 at the Flynn Space in downtown Burlington. About 100 people actually showed up. Technical issues aside, a good time was had by all. From the performance was produced the "Soft and Lonely" music video.
