Carolina

Something in the air
Just molecules away
A sense of you and I
Comes rushing back into my memory
The smell of your sweet skin and of your breath

Under the brilliant sky
Above a roaring sea
Nestled in the dunes we lied together in the sunshine
The warmth it ran between us
It did

And that’s calling back now
Calling me back now again
Calling back now
It’s calling me back once again

If only the other day
I could have held my brutal mind
I know I could have listened
Like I did when we were younger, weren’t you singing me the simplest
Of song

Comfort me with love
Take me higher than,
I’ve ever been with you
Hold me closer and close . . . your eyes

Carolina you and I have much we need to say
I promise you I’m here to listen each and every day

So comfort me with love
Take me higher than,
I’ve ever been with you
Hold me closer and close . . . your eyes

Carolina you and I together we can start
To see each other eye to eye while dancing heart to heart

Soft and Lonely

Half the world away your mind has fallen into a groove
And I know that you have often wondered just what you should do
When that girl before you smiles, you laugh, she turns and says she needs to go
And you just don’t know if what they say is true
She’s soft and lonely, tender and only into you

With a promise to herself she wakes up each and every day
With her make-up, silky clothes, and sweet perfume
Will he pull her close and shelter her from wind and stormy seas
Or is she doomed to drown, oh, Lord, if you only knew
How soft and lonely, tender and only into you

And when you feel the Sun, you fall into an open sky
And when you feel the rain, you’re drenched in a summer shower
You feel her power as the petals of a flower fall to the ground
She loves me, she loves me not, does she love me today
She loves me, she loves me not, what more can I say
It’s so hard to be lonely, tender and only into you

She’s soft and lonely, tender and only into you
It’s so hard to be lonely, tender and only into you

Pies in the Oven

People are strange when they’re busy as hell
Lost in the future in the past we do dwell
We’ll do anything, anything, anything for more time

As we slip through each moment
We slip through each day
Wondering when we’ll reach euphoria, euphoria, where is that button for euphoria?

And for love, mouth-watering love?
And for time, season me with time

For those of you who dare to wonder why
It seems like everybody’s got their pies in the oven
But as we cruise there’s good lovin’
As close as the oven door

In slowing your wheels to the tempo of home
Rolling up the driveway you’re sensing the tone
Of those old creaking walls
You drop your suitcase in the hall
The fragrance of the air
As you’re lying there you stare
At the cracks in the, cracks and the, cracks in the, cracks in the ceiling

And there is love

At the center of each rainbow
You’ll find the back of your head
Like your shadow it travels with you
To this halo you are wed, you are wed.

For those of you who dare to wonder why
It seems like everybody’s got their pies in the oven
But as we cruise there’s good lovin’
As close as the oven door
Smells good through that oven door
Just open the oven door

Light of Day

Do you remember years ago
As a quiet child you would hide away
In your room where no one would know
Where your tender tears would fall.

And now, it’s all still the same
Look of fearful eyes facing you in the mirror
Make no mistake who’s to blame
As you wonder who you are

There’s no need to defend
When falling on your face
You can find your graces
You can be your own friend
Just take a little time
And you’ll see the light of day

Are there people who think you don’t care
Are you paralyzed by the brightness inside you
Such a shame with so much to share
Open up and you’ll be there where

There’s no need to defend
When falling on your face
You can find your graces
You can be your own friend
Just take a little time
And you’ll see the light of day

Our fears are like dragons guarding the gold
Of what we could offer in sharing our souls

There’s no need to defend
When falling on your face
You can find your graces
You can be your own friend
Just take a little time
And you’ll see the light of day

The light of day, the light of day
The light of day, the light of day

Blue Cocoon

She said her love was an open book
With passages so clear to see.
If only some one would take a look
As she bides her time she knows

Somewhere over the rainbow
There lies a shining knight waiting for her
If only she could attempt to jump from
The canyon’s edge she’d fly

Through the rain, through the storm, to the Sun, to the other side there’s her dream
Where she sits, by her roses, calmly gazing out from her window

And some things they come
And others we know
May never appear
That’s just how it goes

And she manages all these things
In a day to day equation
Plugging into the silence of her routine
And television

If we could just break from that blue cocoon
I bet we’d find a beautiful creation
Fluttering up to an open sky
We’d see just where we are

Through the rain, through the storm, to the Sun, there is a natural way to our dreams
Where we sit, on a rose, calmly drying our wings by the window

And some things they come
And others we know
May never appear
If we’re not willing to grow

From the rain, from the storm, from the Sun, there are so many ways we can start
Just find a place, where you can sit, calmly gazing out from your window

Missing You

I’m doing fine I just need the time to be
Alone with all the feelings that I see

Trying to find an inner goodness with comfort and grace
Losing a love is never easy when all you gain is an empty space

I’m a believer we all do what we must
As we grow older as we blow into dust

As fleeting now as the dawn
Like a sliver of light passing on, that’s our dream

Some say that the one is the truth
But I know that the truth is the one

Something about death drawing closer said the lover to her friend
Every morning when she wakes up she remembers not to pretend

She’s a believer that people change
We all are seers, we all love, we feel pain

As fleeting now as this song
With the faith our love will live on, that’s our dream

Hope and Fear

My life on the edge
I’m so ready to fall
Either one step forward or one step
Back to it all

Back to the graystone clouds
Crossing the sky
Weighing me down to the ground
Where without you I’d lie

With the sea spray in the air
The crash on the rocks it shakes me
I suddenly care
The wind on my face awakes me

If my heart is so perfect
Then why does it flutter in blue?

It could be anything you do
And I’m in love for the very first time
With just a little kiss, you shine
And the Sun breaks through
And I’m calling for you

Between the light and the night
There’s the sharpest of lines
It’s a struggle to straddle the heights
Where life takes me at times

Into the trees
Off from the trail we’re jumping
A bed in the leaves
With the pins and the needles pumping

And that’s all that I hear as you’re calling me
Nearer to you

It could be anything you do
And I’m in love for the very first time
With just a little kiss, you shine
And the Sun breaks through
And I’m falling

If you could give me one more day
I’d know that life goes on and on
If you could please show me the way
Give me the love I’m counting on

Secret of Life

Smells sweetly familiar
The hush of your breath swings me to the mood
I wanna love you forever
I get the sense, you and I we will bloom
Ya, we will bloom. Blossoming soon

As we gaze to the ceiling
The look in our eyes tells me that we’re on
onto the feeling of déjà vu
Like I’ve known you before
Ya somewhere before. I just can’t ignore

You could be the one for me
I tell you now because I’m free
To fall into the secret of life
The secret of life is right here
Whatever I do, I don’t expect too much
But I’m a fool . . . for you

And if you find me with my head in my hands
That can only mean that I just don’t understand
Your leaving, your leaving our world to go away
Believing, believing the words that you say

Sounds strangly familiar
A painful past that left you unsure
But if time is the healer
One look in my eyes and you’ll know there’s a cure
Ya, love is the cure. You just can’t ignore

It might just be I’m the one for you
I’m telling you please now think it through
Until you find the secret of life
The secret of life is right now
Whatever you do, don’t expect too much
Or you’ll be a fool. . . like me

And if you find me with my head in your hands
That can only mean that at last you understand
No leaving, No leaving could tear our world away
I’m believing, believing no matter where we go we stay
I’m believing, believing no mater where
I’m believing, believing you care. . . for me

Older Child

It’s a sunny day around you now my friend
Your life is in bloom, are you ready to fly?
Away, up to the ends of the Earth
But don’t fall down from the weight of your pride

Just because you think you’re knowing of everything
Just because you got it all squared away
I’ve got a simple message for you
Watch what you do and watch what you say

And you know you’ve had a lesson as your first love
She goes walking out the door
You’ll always have the feeling she could come back
But she won’t be anymore

I don’t want to see you crying
I don’t want to see you down
I just want to see you happy
In love with life all around

After following for years a lonely road
Winding you down over many a mile
Finally you’ll find yourself a true love
A love who can raise your beautiful smile

And you know it just gets better as you grow
But independence is never free
‘Cause every now and then you’ll fall on your face
Then you will be an older child like me

I don’t want to see you crying
I don’t want to see you down
I just want to see you happy
In love with life all around

Every little bit of energy that I’ve got
I’ll give that do you
So put it in your pocket, carry it around
As you do all that you do

Lonely World

I see you walking out that door
I feel your angry face
We’ve never said these things before
You’ve put me in my place
As the rush of your car fades away
I’m in a lonely world
You were the only girl, for me

Do you know what you want?
Do you know where you’re going?
Is he really better than me?
Is it true love he’s now showing?
Or are you stuck in a panic
Just like the Titanic, going down?

So you’re in love with him
But he’s in love with Kim they say
And Kim’s in love with Stan
But Stan’s in love with Fran today
And Fran’s the seniorita
Who fancies her friend Peter, who’s gaping at her
If you think love is cruel
You gotta follow this rule
Just always stay cool
And you’ll be nobody’s fool

There may be a million souls
With whom you’d resonate
But that won’t matter much I’m told
If you’re not feeling great
About the one with whom you spend all your time
That’s you in a lonely world
You were the only girl, for me

Though yesterday at your party
Out of the corner of my eye
I took one glance at Loretta
But that’s when Greta jumped to my side

But Greta she loves Sam
While Sam, well, he really loves Pam’s buffet
And though Pam’s a tender choice
He’d rather sleep with Joyce who prays
For Jan that sneaky elf
Who hands it to herself every day
If you think love is cruel
You gotta follow this rule
Just always stay cool
And you’ll be nobody’s fool

Loser

I don’t drink every night
I don’t even know how to fight
My dogs not dead, my eyes aren’t red
There ain’t no tatoos upon my head
No smoking in my past
My car’s not super fast
But I can really be mean
When it comes to staying clean
So why don’t you love me, why don’t you love me anymore?

Is it my personality
That puts you ill at ease
Am I just too close to your face
Invading all your personal space
I’ve got the passion
And I’m all the fashion
Is my smile not good enough
Cause down below I’ve got the stuff
So why don’t you love me, why don’t you love me anymore?

Am I a loser
Or is it that I’m just too cool
Though I’m not a boozer Should I be a boozer
I did quite well in school And not do well in school
Won’t you be my honey
Won’t you take my money
I’ll beg at your door
I’ll even sleep upon your floor
So why don’t you love me, why don’t you love me anymore?

They say that all the world’s a stage
And me, I’m just the star
But you can be my understudy
Together we’ll go far away, I’ll take you away
